The Geierlay Bridge, Germany’s most beautiful suspension bridge, was inaugurated in the Hunsrück on October 3, 2015.

What else is noteworthy?
The bridge is the attraction for people without a fear of heights and adventurers. Modeled after Nepalese suspension bridges, the “Geierlay Suspension Bridge” spans from one bridgehead to the other. The name was chosen in a competition and refers to the area of the land registry the bridge is located in.
Initial contact point is the visitor center in Mörsdorf, which is equipped with an information terminal, a restaurant and public facilities.

Please note:
Effective from November, 1st 2020 you can cross the Geierlay suspension bridge only in ONE direction from Mörsdorf to Sosberg!
This is to ensure that corona protection measures are upheld.
To get back to Mörsdorf you can ONLY use the hiking trail "Geierlayschleife" (6,4 km long).

Hiking around the suspension bridge
The bridge connects to legs 19 and 20 of the Saar-Hunsrück-Steig, a 410 kilometer long premium hiking trail between the towns of Perl, Trier (both by the Moselle river) and Boppard (by the Rhine river).
The bridge is also accessible by smaller looped trails and is located close to several other hiking trails.
