Roads of the Romans

In 368 AD, the Roman poet and scholar Ausonius travelled along the Roman road from Bingium (Bingen) on the Rhine through the Hunsrück along the Moselle to the residence of the Roman emperor, the city of Augusta Treverorum (Trier). Today you can hike along the Ausonius trail, taking in some ancient buildings along the way. The Ausonius hiking trail is one of 100 stations on the Roads of the Romans. In this section you can find Roman attractions and offers in the Hunsrück, Moselle-Saar, Eifel, Saarland, and the Moselle in Luxembourg.
