The 83-kilometre Soonwaldsteig premium trail from Kirn an der Nahe through the Soonwald-Nahe Nature Park to Bingen am Rhein promises a special hiking experience combined with unique nature experiences. Extensive beech forests produce a healthy climate for humans and animals. The diversity of species along the way is great, the evidence of exciting geological processes impressive. Ancient walls hidden in the forest, such as Alteburg Castle, and castles and palaces perched on hilltops, such as Rheinstein Castle, tell of the Celts, Romans and the Middle Ages.
